Hope Core Principles

"The Gospel Driven Church"

The Gospel is God’s unbelievably good news for all who will hear and receive it. It is essentially the news that we are far more sinful and broken than we would ever dare admit, but at the same time, that God offers us a love that is greater than anything we could imagine. This love is received by resting in Jesus Christ rather than in our attempts to please God or be better people. Once it is received and experienced, God’s love for us has a transforming influence on every area of our lives.

The power of the Gospel of Jesus Christ is the dynamic that drives Hope Church Because Jesus Died and rose again, he can offer new life to all who hope in him. The Gospel gives hope to the most broken and helpless yet exposes the folly of the proud and self-sufficient.

The Gospel is not just the key to entering into a relationship with God, it also provides the basis upon which we grow in that relationship. It’s not just the ABC’s of the Christian life, it’s the A to Z of the Christian Life.

Rather than telling us to change, that we might be acceptable to God, the Gospel tells us that God accepts us because of the Work of Christ, in spite of our failures, in order that we might change. The Gospel enables us to embrace BOTH grace and truth, BOTH holiness and love, BOTH mercy and justice...

  1. Gospel Outreach

The church exists not for itself, but to bring the Gospel to the wider community. The rich, the poor, the successful, and the failures all need the Gospel in their lives Our responsibility is to continually find creative ways to build bridges and break down barriers in order to communicate the Gospel to our neighbors. (Romans 10 13-15; 1 Corinthians 9:19-23)

  2. Gospel Centered Community

The experience of God’s presence, power, and grace is normally received and made real as we celebrate the Gospel in worship and as we apply the Gospel in our relationships with one another. (1 Peter 2:9; 1 John 4:12)

  3. Gospel for the Next Generation

One of our greatest responsibilities is to pass our faith on to our children. We will develop programs that teach children of every age group the Gospel in a manner that they can understand…(Deuteronomy 11:18-21; Acts 2:38)

  4. Gospel Driven Service and Mercy

We are never more like Jesus than when we serve others (John 13). Serving one another is also a means by which we grow. We serve because he first served us (Mark 10:42-45).

  5. We take seriously our obligation to reach out in practical ways to the needy, helpless, poor, and suffering around us. This is a proof of the reality of our faith (James 2:14-17), a means by which we experience God’s power in our lives (Isaiah 58:6-9), and the response to an experience of the riches of Christ (2 Corinthians 8:9)

  6. Prayer

By prayer we apply the Gospel dynamic to all of our needs and concerns and experience the reality that the Gospel changes everything (2 Chronicles 7:14; Romans 8:28-31).
